Two for Joy

One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver, Six for gold,
Seven for a secret, never to be told,
Eight for a wish,
Nine for a kiss,
Ten for a bird you must not miss.

I wish you two for joy and hope that your recent experiences do not dishearten you too much. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Thank you- they really are wonderful birds. We also have a custom in our house, whenever you see a magpie, you have to say "good morning/afternoon Mr Magpie"! Not quite sure where that comes from ? Amanda : )

Lovely print Amanda, I love this rhyme. The week before my prem grandchild was born I saw 4 magpies in my garden, which I took as a sign; he just arrived 8 weeks early!!

Lovely - we salute the magpie when we see them. No idea where that comes from either!
